ITS provides wired and wireless network services in the Bellarmine, Campion, Chardin, Douglas, Murphy Apts, and Xavier residence halls. Third-party wired and wireless access is provided by others in Vi Hilbert Hall apartments, Kolvenbach houses, Logan Court condominiums, and Yobi apartments.

One network jack is available per student. Network jacks may also be available in select common areas such as lounges, study rooms, or lobbies.
Internet access from a Reshall jack does not require any authentication
Access to systems hosted on the internal SeattleU network from a Reshall jack requires the device authenticate at a web portal before attempting to connect to the internal system. Typical on-prem systems requiring such access include:
Computer Science servers
Select library systems
Each wired network jack will provide 85-95Mbit/sec throughput

Devices must support 5GHz or 6GHz WiFi. We no longer use 2.4GHz for WiFi.
Two WiFi networks are available in the Reshalls above: SU-secure and SU-visitor
SU-secure
Recommended for use with computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones
Requires authentication with a valid SeattleU username and password
Provides access to the internet. Provides access to select internal systems based on your status as a student (vs faculty, staff, etc)
There is no bandwidth (throughput) restriction applied to your SU-secure connection(s)
SU-visitor
Requires device registration instead of user authentication
The communication between your device and our wireless access point is not secured by SU-visitor. If your device initiates a secure connection to the remote system, the local traffic between your device and our wireless access point is secured.
There is a 100Mbit/sec bandwidth (throughput) restriction applied to each SU-visitor connection
Provides access to the internet. No access to any internal systems.
SU-visitor has two use cases:
Internet access for devices that are not compatible with SU-secure (such as using only a password to access a WiFi network), or are used daily or multiple times each week and the process of re-registering a device every 24 hours would be inconvenient. Such devices include gaming consoles, entertainment systems, audio/video streaming devices, TVs, personal assistants, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
Short term ad-hoc use by visiting family members, friends, or summer event attendees

Numerous factors can affect your WiFi throughput including, but not limited to, the age and WiFi capabilities of your device, the number of active WiFi devices near you, and the type of content being accessed. Devices that support 6GHz WiFi will realize the highest throughput and the least congestion. To see your real-time WiFi throughput to the internet, we recommend you use https://fast.com.
Yes. Residents in Bellarmine, Campion, Chardin, Douglas, Murphy Apartments, and Xavier are allowed to setup and use a wireless printer for their personal use. The device must support Bluetooth (our preference) or create a personal WiFi network to which your device connects. You cannot connect your wireless printer to either SU-secure or SU-visitor and print to it from your device, as this is considered peer-to-peer traffic on our WiFi networks and is blocked by default. Please consult the Setup guide for your wireless printer to configure either Bluetooth or wireless printing.
Residents in Bellarmine, Campion, Chardin, Douglas, Murphy Apartments, and Xavier are not allowed to setup or use any device that creates a WiFi network (SSID), whether it is broadcast or not. This includes, but is not limited to, wireless access points or wireless routers/firewalls. This is necessary to reduce potential impact with SeattleU-provided WiFi.
