How to Change the Default Project Location for Visual Studio

This guide will help users change their default project location for Visual Studio

Instructions

  1. Open Visual Studio

  2. Click Continue without code

  3. Click Tools > Options

     

  4. Scroll to Projects and Solutions and click on Locations

     

  5. Click on the menu for Project Location

     

  6. Click on This PC

     

  7. Scroll down and double-click on DFS-MyDocuments (U:)

     

  8. Create a New Folder to store your VS projects

     

  9. In this example, we named it VS Projects. Select it and click Select Folder

     

  10. Click OK

     

  11. Close Visual Studio and reopen it

  12. When creating a new project it should save to the folder you selected
