Common Components
At minimum, the TV cart will include an HDMI cord connected to the TV for connecting your device to the TV.
Adapters
Often, one or more adapters will be available for devices without HDMI ports. Below are some examples of common adapters:
If you need an adapter that isn’t available in this room, please contact ITS
Remote
Typically, a remote will be available as well. The exact remote will depend on the TV model. Here are some common remotes:
Instructions
Find the HDMI cord and plug it into the HDMI port on your laptop or other device.
If needed, use one of the available adapters to plug into a USB-C or mini displayport port (see here for examples)
Turn on the TV using the available remote. The power button should always be at the top (see here for examples).
If there is no remote, or the remote doesn’t seem to work, see here
The laptop should now be displaying on the TV. If this is not the case, see the common issues section below. Please remember to turn the TV off when finished.
Common Issues
No signal on TV
Check the TV input
Check which input on the back of the TV the HDMI cord is connected into (i.e. HDMI 1, HDMI 2, etc.) and then use the remote control to select this input on the TV.
You should be able to press the input/source button multiple times to cycle through inputs, until the TV display indicates the selected input matches the one the cable is connected to. Below are some examples of input/source buttons.
Make sure HDMI cable is securely plugged into both your device and the TV
We recommend unplugging and replugging the cable into the ports
If you are using any adapters, check the connection of the adapter to the HDMI cord and your device as well
Windows users - check “project” menu by pressing the keys [win] + [P]
Make sure “duplicate” or “extend” is selected (see here for an explanation of these two modes)
“duplicate” means both displays show the same content. “extend” means there are two separate desktops that you can move your mouse between

If you previously tried turning it on with the remote, press the power button on the TV

If the TV doesn’t turn on after pressing the power button, make sure the TV’s power cord is plugged into an outlet, and the other end is firmly plugged into the TV, if applicable.
