  1. Turn the projector on using the “On” button on the button panel (pictured above).

    1. Don’t forget to turn it off using the “Off” button when you are finished!

  2. Next, select which video source you would like to use with the projector by pressing either “laptop,” “blu-ray,” or “apple TV”

    1. If you are using a laptop/personal device, plug it into the HDMI cable and power it on or wake it, if you haven’t already

      1. If your device doesn’t have an HDMI port, we recommend bringing an HDMI to USB-C adapter

    2. If you are using the blu-ray player, turn it on by pressing the power button if it is not already on.

      1. The blu-ray player is located in the black AV rack, pictured below.

      2. If you can see words on the small screen on the player, it is on

You are now ready to use the audiovisual equipment! Please remember to turn off the projector and log out of the computer when finished.

Common Issues

Below are several common issues that you may experience with this equipment, and bulleted suggestions for troubleshooting them. Click the links below to jump to a specific issue. If you still need/desire help, please contact ITS.

Projector won’t turn on

Projector image not showing content from selected source

Projector image not showing content from any source

Projector doesn’t show the same content as my computer screen

Sound coming from laptop speakers instead of room speakers

No sound playing from room speakers

Sound is laggy/stuttering when playing back on room speakers

Projector won’t turn on

If pressing the “on” button on the button panel does not work:

  • Look up at the projector and confirm whether it is powered off or just not showing an image

  • Press “off” on the button panel, then press “on” again

  • If the above doesn’t work, please contact ITS so we can fix it.

    • You may try using the panasonic projector remote to turn on the projector in the meantime, but please contact us even if this works.

    • Please do not use the projector remote otherwise, as the room is designed to be operated without it.

Projector image not showing content from selected source

  • Make sure the selected device (laptop, blu-ray, or apple TV) is turned on

  • Press the other video source buttons on the button panel to help locate the issue

  • Check the HDMI connection to your laptop, if using one. Unplug and replug the cable back in firmly.

  • If using a windows laptop: Log in to your profile, then bring up the project menu by pressing [win] + [P] on your keyboard. We recommend selecting “duplicate,” if it is not already selected

Projector image not showing content from any source

  • Make sure the “A/V mute” button on the control panel is not engaged

Projector doesn’t show the same content as my computer screen

Mac os and windows both allow the user to have two separate desktops when using multiple displays. If your laptop defaults to this setting, and you prefer to have your computer screen and projector showing the same thing, we recommend trying the following:

  • On Windows: Log in to your profile, then bring up the project menu by pressing [win] + [P] on your keyboard. We recommend selecting “duplicate,” if it is not already selected

  • On mac os: Log into your profile, then use the shortcut [Command] + [fn] + [F1].

    • If this doesn’t work, try [Command] + [F1]

Sound coming from laptop speakers instead of room speakers

When plugging in your personal device to the projector system via HDMI cord, it may not automatically switch to using the classroom AV system for audio output. This happens most often with mac os if you have never used this audio output with it.

  • Check the default audio output device on your device

    • Click the following links to see instructions for doing this on windows or mac os

    • The correct output device should have “Extron” in the name

    • Some software requires you to select an audio output device independent of the system default, so be sure to check this if applicable

  • If the correct audio device does not show up as an option, restart your computer

No sound playing from room speakers

  • If using a personal device, check its main volume level, as well as the volume level in any application you are using

  • Make sure “On” is selected on the button control panel under display, and “A/V mute” is unselected

  • Make sure volume on control panel is turned up

Sound is laggy/stuttering when playing back on room speakers

  • Restarting your device often fixes this
