Contents
Included technology
MCC 212 writing center features a projector and screen. There is a USB-C connection available for connecting a laptop or other personal device to the projector and a remote to turn the projector on and off.
Instructions
Connect the USB-C connector located at the desk to the device you want to connect to the projector. Turn on/wake up your device if it is not already
To turn on the projector, point the remote control at the projector and press “on”
The image from your device should be projecting at the front of the room shortly.
If needed, pull down the screen at the front of the room and let go when the image is fully shining on it
Please note that there is no audio connection in this room, so any audio will play from your device unless you bring your own speaker to connect
You are now ready to use the audiovisual equipment! Please remember to turn off the projector and log out of the computer when finished
Common Issues
Below are several common issues that you may experience with this equipment, and bulleted suggestions for troubleshooting them. If you still need/want help, please contact ITS.
Projector won’t turn on
Change the batteries in the remote, if possible, and try to turn the projector on again
Projector image is not showing content from computer
Check the display cable connections - This imac is connected to the projector via a USB-C to HDMI cable adapter plugged into the back of the imac screen, which is connected to an HDMI cable plugged into a wall port. Check that all of these cables are securely plugged in.
If using windows, log in to your profile, then bring up the project menu by pressing [win] + [P] on your keyboard. We recommend selecting “duplicate,” if it is not already selected
For more info, please see this page.
Check the projector input: The projector should be on an HDMI input. Press the “source” button repeatedly to cycle through inputs - be sure to check every input labeled as HDMI
Projector doesn’t show the same content as my computer screen
Both windows and mac os allow the user to have two separate desktops when using multiple displays. If this happens, and you prefer to have your laptop screen and projector showing the same thing, we recommend doing the following:
On Windows: Log in to your profile, then bring up the project menu by pressing [win] + [P] on your keyboard. We recommend selecting “duplicate,” if it is not already selected
For more info, please see this page.
On mac os: Log into your profile, then use the shortcut [Command] + [fn] + [F1].
If this doesn’t work, try [Command] + [F1]
Sound plays from my device instead of the projector
Unfortunately, due to the type of cabling used to connect to this projector, there is no audio connection through the laptop cable.
