How to activate admin access on a MacBook

Note that this only apply to user who has already approved for a Local Admin Account request.

Checking Your Account Type

To verify your current account type, navigate to System Settings → User Accounts. Under your name, your account type will be displayed as either Standard or Admin.

Accessing Self Service

Open Self Service by either:

  • Clicking the Self Service icon in the top right corner, or

  • Searching for the application using the search function.

Granting Admin Privileges

  1. In the Self Service application, navigate to the Catalog tab.

  2. Locate the Instructor (Admin) option along with a Reinstall button.

  3. Click Reinstall to grant your account admin privileges.

Note: The process will take approximately 1 minute to complete. Once finished, the button will revert back to Reinstall.

Confirming Your Admin Privileges

To confirm that admin privileges have been successfully applied, navigate to System Settings → User Accounts. Under your name, your account type should now reflect the updated status.
