How to install VNC Viewer

In order fully optimize the remote processes for web-based learning, ITS is transition to software Call VNC Viewer. Using this tool in conjunction with Labstats, allows students and instructors to connect to on campus Mac lab computers within a lab environment without the need of a VPN (Virtual Private Network). Upon connecting, users will be given access to all of the programs and files that are located on the lab computers.

Getting Started

  1. After being added into the system, via your college email, the user will be sent an email that will request that they create an account for RealVNC (See Below)

     

  2. When you receive this email, select JOIN TEAM to begin the process of creating a RealVNC account.

    1. use your SU Email, it will be auto generated.

    2. Under “I plan to use Real VNC for:” select “personal use.”

 

3. After creating an account, go back to your original email invite and click the download VNC Viewer link to be brought to the download page. Downloading this tool will allow you to connect to the lab computer remotely from your home computer, without the need for a VPN.
