Wireless Networks in Bellarmine, Campion, Chardin, Douglas, Murphy Apts, and Xavier:
Devices must support 5GHz or 6GHz WiFi. We no longer use 2.4GHz for WiFi.
SU-secure is recommended for use by computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones. SU-secure requires authentication by a valid SeattleU username and password.
SU-visitor requires device registration as opposed to user authentication. SU-visitor has two use cases:
Internet access for devices that are not compatible with SU-secure (such as using only a password to access a WiFi network), are used daily or multiple times each week and the process of re-registering a device every 24 hours would be inconvenient. Such devices include gaming consoles, entertainment systems, audio/video streaming devices, TVs, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
Short term ad-hoc use by visiting family members, friends, or summer event attendees
SU-visitor: you can register your device one time for access through the current school year. See Can I connect my TV/game console/streaming device to SeattleU Wi-Fi?
Note: It is recommended that streaming content always be accessed over a wired connection when possible. Wired connections provide consistent throughput and do not suffer from multiple device congestion as WiFi does.
WiFi throughput varies greatly based on your device type, capabilities, the number of active WiFi devices near you, and the content being downloaded to those devices. Devices that support 6GHz WiFi will realize the highest throughput. To see your WiFi throughput to the internet, we recommend you use https://fast.com.
