Can I connect my TV/game console/streaming device to SeattleU Wi-Fi?

This is an informative article about connecting Streaming devices to the SeattleU wired network.

Instructions

Streaming devices, including TVs and game consoles, perform best when connected to the wired network. We recommend you connect such devices to the SeattleU wired network in your reshall room. Every SeattleU reshall room has at least one wired jack for each occupant. Please review Resident Hall Wired Network Jacks to understand which jacks to use. The Yobi and Vi Hilbert have wireless internet provided by others.

Few, if any, entertainment or Internet of Things (IoT) devices support the WPA2 Enterprise authentication requirements of our SU-secure Wi-Fi. Those devices should use SU-visitor if they have a browser to register at the portal. Please review Connecting to SU Visitor to understand the requirements for SU-visitor. The device will have wireless internet for up to 12 hours, after which you must repeat the browser-based registration process.

Students living in Bellarmine, Campion, Murphy Apts, Chardin, Douglas and Xavier can request their gaming or streaming devices(s) be registered for continuous access to SU-visitor, eliminating the need to register every 12 hours. This access will expire at the end of the current school year. You can register your device by emailing the following information to servicedesk@seattleu.edu:

  1. Your First and Last Name

  2. Your SeattleU user name (we never ask for your password)

  3. Your phone number

  4. The building name and room number where you live

  5. The wireless device brand and model

  6. The 12-character wireless hardware address, also referred to as the MAC address. If you are unsure how to locate it, you can Google “find wireless mac xxxx” where xxxx is your device type.
