This article walks the user through the steps to uninstall software on Windows 10

Instructions

Uninstalling software is something we all have to do from time to time, whether it’s because the software has become corrupted and is affecting your computer’s performance, or because you simply don’t want it there anymore. Here are the steps to uninstall software from computers running the Windows 10 operating system.

  1. On your toolbar (the black strip at the bottom of your desktop that has the date/time at the right and the icons of the apps you have pinned as well as those that are active), access the Start Menu.

  2. Navigate to Windows Settings by clicking on the gear icon two icons above the Start Menu icon. This is the Settings icon, and it is pretty universal for settings in most apps and websites.

  3. In the Windows Settings menu click on Apps. It is the second from the top on the leftmost column.

    Fun Fact!
The term “Apps” is short for “applications”. Way back in the 1900s Apps used to be called “Programs”!

  4. Type the name of the app you wish to uninstall from your machine in the appropriate search box. You want the search box in the whiter part of the screen that contains the phrase “Search this list”

  5. When you find the app you want to uninstall, click on it. Then click the uninstall box that pops up.

  6. Let the computer do it’s thing

  7. (Optional) It may be prudent, depending on the software, to restart your machine. This is not always necessary, and if it is you will be prompted to do so.
