Note: SU’s wireless operates over both 2.4GHz and 5GHz except for select locations where 2.4GHz is disabled at various access points to minimize congestion for the limited channels available via 2.4GHz (mostly in the reshalls)SU-secure is available inside all campus buildings. Your device must have be compatible with 5GHz or 6GHz Wi-Fi and support WPA2 Enterprise authentication (username, password). We no longer broadcast SU-secure via 2.4GHz.  

Wifi devices require configuration before they can connect to the SU-secure wireless network. Please follow the guides below for instructions on configuring your specific device type for connecting to SU-secure.

Windows 8

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for both automatically and manually configuring your Windows 8 computer to connect to SU-secure. Attempt automatic configuration first. Only attempt manual configuration if automatic configuration is unsuccessful. SU-secure is only available for use by Seattle University students, faculty, staff, and Jesuits. Remove Existing SU-secure Profile

  1. Click on the wifi icon in the system tray.

  2. Right click on SU-secure and select ‘Forget this network’.

Automatic Configuration

  1. Per the instructions above, ensure you have removed any existing SU-secure profiles from your device.

  2. Visit the ITS downloads page at https://www.seattleu.edu/support/downloads/ You may be prompted to enter your SeattleU credentials to access this page.

  3. Locate the ‘Autoconfigure SU-secure’ heading and download the Windows Devices configuration package.

  4. Locate the ‘AutoConfigureWindows-SU-secure.zip’ file in your downloads folder

  5. Right-click the folder, select ‘Extract All’ and then click on the ‘Extract’ button.

  6. The extracted contents of ‘Autoconfigure SU-secure.zip’ will appear.

  7. Double click the ‘RUNME – Auto configure SU-secure’ file to automatically configure your SU-secure connection.

  8. Select SU-secure from the list of available networks, click connect, and enter your SeattleU credentials in the authentication prompt that appears.

Add SU-secure to your wifi network list

  1. Click on the start button, type ‘network and sharing center’ in the search bar, and click on the Network and Sharing Center button. The Network and Sharing Center will appear.

  2. Click on the ‘Set up a new connection or network’ button to add a new wireless network.

  3. The Set Up a Connection or Network menu will appear. Select ‘Manually connect to a wireless network’ and press ‘Next’ to continue.

  4. The initial connection set up menu will appear. Enter the following information and then click ‘Next’ to add SU-secure to your list of wireless networks

    1. Network name: SU-secure

    2. Security type: WPA2-Enterprise

    3. Encryption type: AES

    4. Security key: Leave blank

    5. Start this connection automatically: Checked

    6. Connect even if the network is not broadcasting: Unchecked

Configure your connection

A window will appear that confirms SU-secure was successfully added. Select ‘Change connection settings’ to continue to the wireless properties menu.

Click on the ‘Security’ tab at the top of the wireless properties menu.

  1. Network authentication method: Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP)

  2. Remember my credentials for this connection each time I’m logged on: Checked

  2. Click on the Wi-Fi settings menu, then click ‘Manage known networks’

  3. On the ‘Manage known networks’ menu, select ‘SU-secure’ and click ‘Forget’

Remove Existing SU-secure Profile

  1. Press the wifi icon in the status menu and select ‘Open Network Preferences’

  2. On the ‘Network’ menu, select your Wi-Fi network and click on ‘Advanced…’

     

  3. In the ‘Wi-Fi’ tab, select SU-secure from the list and click on the minus button to remove it. Then click ‘OK’.

  4. Click the ‘Apply’ button on the Network menu to apply the settings.

Automatic Configuration

  1. Per the instructions above, ensure you have removed any existing SU-secure profiles from your device.

  2. Visit the ITS downloads page at https://www.seattleu.edu/support/downloads/ . You may be prompted to enter your SeattleU credentials to access this page.

  3. Locate the ‘Auto Configure SU-secure’ heading and download the Apple Devices configuration package.

  4. Locate the ‘AutoConfigureApple-SU-secure.mobileconfig’ file in your downloads and double click it to begin installation.

  5. Click ‘Continue’ to install the SU-secure profile. Press ‘Continue’ again when you are prompted that the author of the profile is unknown.

  6. Enter your SeattleU credentials when prompted and click ‘Install’.

  7. If prompted, enter administrator credentials and click ‘OK’.

Manual Configuration

  1. Connect to SU-secure.

    1. Click on the wireless icon in the system toolbar to bring up the list of available wireless networks.

    2. Ensure that your wifi antenna is switched on, and then select ‘SU-secure’ from the list of available networks.

       

  2. Enter your credentials.

    1. A window will appear that prompts you to enter your credentials. Enter your SeattleU username and password, ensure ‘Remember this network is checked’, and click ‘Join’

       

    2. You may be asked to verify the security certificate. Verify that you are authenticating to oitias1.seattleu.edu or oitnac1.seattleu.edu; and then click ‘Continue’ to accept the certificate and connect.

       

  3. Verify that you are connected

    1. Upon successful connection, your wifi menu will show a check mark next to SU-secure:

Remove Existing SU-secure Profile

  1. Tap on the Settings app

  2. Tap on the Wi-Fi settings menu

     

  3. Tap on the blue ‘i’ next to SU-secure

  4. Tap the ‘Forget this network’ button.

  2. Using Safari as your web browser, visit the ITS downloads page at https://www.seattleu.edu/support/downloads/ . You may be prompted to enter your SeattleU credentials to access this page.

  3. Locate the ‘Auto Configure SU-secure’ heading and download the Apple Devices configuration package.

  4. Click on the ‘SU-secure Apple Devices - mobile devices only’ link.

  5. Choose “Allow” when prompted.

  6. The message ‘Profile Downloaded’ will appear; choose ‘Close’

  7. Go to Settings → General → VPN & Device Management and click on the ‘SU-secure’ profile.

  8. Tap ‘Install’ in the top right corner.

  9. Enter your device passcode if prompted. The message ‘The profile is not signed’ will appear.

  10. Tap ‘Install’ in the top right corner, and ‘Install’ once more on the popup that appears.

  11. Enter your SeattleU username and tap ‘Next’, then enter your SeattleU password and tap next.

Manual Configuration

  1. To Connect to SU-secure Wi-Fi:

    1. Tap on the settings app from the home screen.

    2. Tap on the wifi button on the settings menu to open up the wifi settings menu.

       

    3. On the wifi settings menu, ensure that the wifi switch is set to on (green), and then tap on SU-secure to connect.

       

  2. Configure your connection

    1. Enter your SeattleU username and password when prompted and tap ‘Join'

    2. You will be prompted to accept a security certificate. Verify that the certificate has the following properties and tap ‘Trust’:

      1. Name: oitias1.seattleu.edu or oitnac1.seattleu.edu;

      2. Issued by: Thawte RSA CA

  3. Verify that you are connected

    1. Upon successful authentication, your wifi settings menu will show a checkmark next to SU-secure:

       

  4. If you are unable to connect your device to SU-secure after following the above steps:

    1. Validate that there are no static IP address or DNS settings that are configured on your device. Devices that are configured with a static IP address or static DNS settings will not be able to connect to SU-secure

    2. Validate that the username and password being used are your current SeattleU username and password

  2. Tap on the cog-wheel beside SU-secure

  3. Tap on “Forget”

  1. Connect to SU-secure

    1. Slide down from the top and tap on “Internet” 

    2. On the slide down window, tap on “SU-secure” 

  2. Configure your connection

    1. After tapping on SU-secure, a menu will appear that will allow you to change settings for your connection. Enter your connection settings as follows and tap connect to connect:

      1. EAP method: PEAP

      2. Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPV2

      3. CA certificate: Use System Certificates

        1. For Android version 14 you will see Minimum TLS version: TLSv1.0

      4. Online certificate status: Do not verify

      5. Identity: Your SeattleU username (i.e. doej@seattleu.edu)

        1. For Android version 14 you will need to fill in Anonymous identity: Your SeattleU username

        2. If you make any changes it will default this back to “anonymous

      4. Identity: Your SeattleU username, i.e doej@seattleu.edu

      5. Password: Your SeattleU password

    2. Click the connect button to connect

       

  3. Verify that you are connected

    1. Upon successful connection, the wifi status indicator will show that you are connected to SU-secure:
