Welcome to the Canvas for Students page! Here you can learn how to:

  • Check your grades

  • Calculate different scores for grades

  • Turn in an Assignment

  • Contact an instructor or classmate

Checking grades on Canvas

  1. Login to Canvas using your Seattle University email and password.

  2. Click on Courses on the sidebar, then select the class you would like to check your grade for.

  3. Select Grades from the course menu.

  4. You can now access your grades. To view a specific assignment’s grade, click on it. To view submission comments from your instructor, click on the Comment Icon.


Calculating different scores for grades

  1. Login to Canvas using your Seattle University email and password. Open the intended class and click on the Grades section. For more on opening the Grades page, see the above section.

  2. Locate the grade that you would like to estimate a different score for. Next, click on the Score.

  3. Type in the new score that you would like to test.

  4. Once you have typed in the test score, you can view how it would affect your grade at the bottom of the page.


Turning in an assignment

  1. Login to Canvas using your Seattle University email and password. Open up the class you have an assignment due for, then click Assignments on the course menu.

  2. Select the assignment you want to turn in and click Upload.

  3. Select the document you want to upload and click Open.

  4. Once the document has loaded, turn in your assignment by clicking Submit.


Sending a message to an instructor or classmate through Canvas

  1. Login to Canvas using your Seattle University email and password.

  2. Click on Inbox on the sidebar.

  3. Click on the Compose Message icon in the top right corner.

  4. Next, select the course you would like to send a message to. Type in the name of your instructor to direct the message to them. Type in the name of a classmate to direct the message to them.

  5. Compose your message, then click Send.
