There may be scenarios where the computer you are connected to does have an internet connection, but your phone may have a poor signal and is unable to receive the MFA push notification, text message, or phone call. This could happen when you are using a laptop on an air plane or if you are using a lab computer in the basement of a building on campus.

In order for these steps to work, you must have already registered the Microsoft Authenticator app as a MFA authentication method.

Instructions

  1. Sign into the application on the computer that is connected to the internet using your email address and password.

  2. If you are automatically prompted to approve the login request using the Microsoft Authenticator app, select “I can’t use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now”.

  3. You should be provided with a list of alternate methods to verify your identity. Please select the “Use a verification code” option.

  4. Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone and select your SU account from the list.

  5. You should see a 6 digit passcode on your screen.

  6. Enter the 6 digit code into the login page and click “Verify”.
