Update Legacy (Basic) Authentication on MacOS

When legacy (basic) authentication is disabled, accessing email through the MacOS mail client may not work.

Preferred Method for Accessing SU Email

Option 1- Outlook App (recommended for faculty, staff, and students)

  1. Follow these instructions for setting up the Outlook App on your MacOS device.

Other Methods for Accessing SU Email

Option 2 - Delete and re-add your email account in the Apple mail app (recommended for alumni)

  1. On your Mac device, open the Mail app 

  2. Choose Mail > Preferences, and then click Accounts

  3. Select the SU account you want to delete and click the remove / minus button

  4. Follow these instructions to setup your SU email account without legacy authentication  

  Note: Your device needs to be at MacOS version 10.14 or higher to use this option 

Option 3 – Outlook on the web

Your SU email can always be accessed through Outlook on the web 

  1. Open a web browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc.) 

  2. Go to https://outlook.com/seattleu.edu 

  3. Sign in with your SU email address
