How To Repair MS Office Applications

Note: Performing this action will repair the entire Office suite even if it’s just one application you want to repair such as Word or Excel.

This is a guide for attempting a repair for your installed Microsoft 365 applications when they are not behaving as expected, possibly due to corrupted data, system files, or a failed installation/update.

Please select the relevant drop-down below for your operating system.

Instructions

 

  1. Right-click on the Start button (lower-left corner on the taskbar)

  2. Choose Apps and Features

     

  3. Select Microsoft Office from the list of apps, and select Modify

  4. Choose Repair from the popup window and click on Continue

     

  5. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the repair

This action may or may not require Admin Rights to perform. If performing these actions prompts you to enter Admin credentials, and you do not have them, then you will need remote assistance. Please generate a ticket with Service Desk via our Customer Portal.

  1. Right-click on the Start button (the icon furthest to the left) on the taskbar

  2. Choose Installed apps

  3. Scroll through the list of apps until you find Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise

  4. Click the ellipsis on the right side, then click Modify

  5. At this point you will be prompted for Admin Rights

  6. Once Admin credentials have been entered the following prompt will appear. Typically it is best to run an Online Repair.

  7. Wait for the repair process to complete, then reopen your applications to see if the issues were resolved.
